Just LOOK at this pair of lamps. I can't remember the last time I saw two of these together without chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs. They are made of a satin glass and reverse painted. One lamp has significant paint loss but the pair is just wonderful anyway. Seems like it would be a fairly straightforward project to clean and repaint the shade(s).
