There were only a handfull of these made in green, as it was a special order for a gift shop that was a big customer that I urged to ask them to make it in green. The lamp measures about 9 tall and has a nearly 6' cord. Condition is perfect: no chips, nicks or even defects to the glass that I can see.
Sarsaparilla Deco Designs was active in the 1980s - 1990s creating nuovo-art-deco decorative lamps, sculptures and other objects, often based on or using actual molds of Frankart, NuArt and other famous 1930s manufacturers. They ceased operation in 1995, and, consequently their work has gained value and is now highly collected. This lamp is based on the No. 16265 Torchiere Lamp by Tiffin U.
The original Tiffin lamp was made in the late 1920s - mid 1930s from the #16265 Vase, with a hole simply drilled in the bottom and placed on a black glass base, and having a black glass lid or shade. As you can see from the photo comparison, the Tiffin vase is taller and lacks the 4 little "feet" along the bottom. Also show is the bottom of the one listed here, which is embossed SARSAPARILLA DECO DESIGNS c.Sorry, the Tiffin vase is not for sale at this time. The lid or shade is a heavy cast brass, which has been brushed and sealed on the top surface. It has 4 little bumps -- one on each corner-- to hold the lid up just enough for heat to escape. It is embossed with the date 1985. I actually prefer (and displayed) the lamp without the lid, but somehow I've managed to keep the lid with the lamp all this time, so they will stay together.
But I will pack it well. Thanks for looking, and happy collecting!
