Up for consideration is a very important original Large Antique Late 19th Century French or Austrian Figural Art Nouveau Lamp possibly for a Newel Post. It measure with the shade approximately 36 inches in height... The piece has 3 natural mounting holes to bolt it directly to a round piece of Marble, a Newel Post, Staircase or up on the mantle of a large fireplace. She really has a remarkable face which is very easy to like and secondly it is the epitome of what Art Nouveau represented... Smooth curving lines naturalistic pose...
Use of natural flora and fauna for embellishment... And more or less a celebration of the natural beauty of the human form. This one is a little better than most and is large... There are other examples that have tree branches for light etc...
It dates from about the turn of the century... Looks like the end of her finger is missing on the left side.
There is some minor wear... Please understand the piece is finely cast front and back...
