This coloured, hard catalin bakelite was commonly used in the 1930s for art deco jewelry due to it's ability to be transparent and also take brilliant colours including marbling like this pair shows. The shades also have a very striking modernist form and is made of the wonderful marbled dual cased glass you see from Europe (Czech and German glass makers). This pair also has an articulating shade head so you can adjust the shade to the angle you need and use them as uplighters.
It does this with a key mechanism that you can loosen and tighten to adjust. Lit up they provide a wonderful ambience and glow and are very moody. Additional features are the original bakelite plugs and new black twisted cloth cable. As can be seen they work without any issues.
This rare pair would be a fine addition to your interior decor and/or collection. These lamps have survived in absolutely fantastic condition as can be seen. The marbled bakelite is in excellent condition with no issues. The machined aluminium arms are also excellent. The shade and bakelite parts of this lamp are in clean and functional condition with no problems. The clicks also function cleanly. No issues what so ever very nice condition on these. Approximate size of each lamp: Height (articulated upwards): 30 cm Base Width : 14 cm Shade Width: 24 cm.
