MODERNIST Art Deco Lamp Machine Age 1940s USA Bakelite, Chrome, Cream Glass

1940s AMERICAN ART DECO MODERNISM! Here we have a stunning example in the very modernist style of the 40s and it is quite a heavy and large size lamp which provides quite the impact as an accent piece. It features a large and heavy stepped base which is very typically Art Deco, leading to the spherical modernist shape of the dual system shade which is quite interestingly designed. The top half of the shade is a chrome plated, machine spun brass shade with a spherical finial repeating the shape of the lamp itself.. And then a dual cased, glass slip shade that sits inside it's cup style holder to diffuse the light. This is all held together with a clever C shape frame which provides a simplified modernist styling that adds the finishing touches to the lamp's appeal. The lamp has not been restored as it was in good shape. It has it's original chrome, some patination and and light wear (please see images below as i've tried to do closeups), however it displays beautifully as can be seen and is an old lamp as you can tell. The cord was replaced with luxury brown twisted cloth cord, and it's bakelite plug and clickswitch serviced and put back on. This lamp as can be seen lights up beautifully and would make a fine addition to your collection/home. The lamp is in very good condition as can be seen and displays beautifully! The chrome is in good shape, has some light wear and shows signs of age and patina around the top part near the finial and near the cup holder. The glass shade is in excellent condition! There are no cracks or major chips.

It has the typical flecks where the internal insert part meets the metal holder.. There is one larger fleck but this cannot be seen inside the cup holder and merely mentioned for accuracy. Please inspect the photos, as you can see it is in quite nice condition. Approximate size of each lamp: Height: 34 cm Base Width: 21.5 cm Metal Shade Width: 24 cm.

To make sure this happen, I use firm boxes, package stiffeners, foam separators between items, bubble wrap around the item, and paper padding. I recycle packing materials whenever possible.
