LEGRAS & Cie. ART DECO ART GLASS TABLE LAMP ETCHED AND HOT GLAZES 1920-1930

Fine Arts, Antiques and Collectibles. Beatiful and very rare French table lamp produced by Legras & Cie. Saint-Denis in the Art Deco period at the beginning of the 20th century.

The base and shade are etched with stylized floral pattern on frosted ground. Decoration by the application of hot orange and black enamels on the pattern. Etched signature heightened with orange enamel on the base and the shade.

This was founded in 1864 by August Legras. The company was very successful making a large amount of tableware.

They also made decorative glass, using many techniques including marbled glass, enamelled and gilded glass. They made bottles in unusual shapes including people and boats. At the start of the 20th Century, they began to make cameo glass, some with the addition of coloured enameling. They also made perfume bottles designed by.

The glass was generally marked either Legras or Mount Joye & Cie. It merged with Pantin in 1906 and was generally marked Pantin or De Vez.

Very good overall condition, no chips, cracks or breaks. Surface imperfections, wear and lost to the enameled decorations especially on the shade due to age and use.

The base has two very tiny flea bite on the end of the neck where the bronze mounted screw adjust, invisible when assembled (please see the picture). It has original vintage silk wiring. The On-Of switch and plug has been replaced perhaps 50 years old, but are in working order, only have darkened a bit from age.
