JOSEPH CLEARMAN Hand Blown Art Glass Table Lamp 1977 Signed & Dated
This is an original Joseph Clearman hand blown art glass table lamp. It was made by Joseph Clearman himself. This lamp is in excellent condition. Both the base and the shade light up. The lamp is 24 inches tall and the shade is 10 inches in diameter. Joseph Clearman blows the shades and bases freely, without the use of molds, making each lamp unique in size and form. He also batches his own colors, using formulations of various metallic oxides. He changes his color selections frequently, always developing new formulations that allow him to create color and light combinations unique to his work.
Because each lamp is different, Clearman must individually craft and fit the brass hardware and internal workings. Clearman's lamps are represented in numerous public and private collections throughout the world. His works have been shown at the de Young Museum, San Francisco (in conjunctions with the 1981 Tiffany Exhibition), the Pennsylvania State University Museum of Art and the Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, as part of the "California Crafts XIII" exhibition.
