Simply a great lamp with great design from a great maker. So lets start with the base. Its a telescoping base which means it can be raised or lowered depending on the owners desired usage height.
This is also my favorite b and h base they ever made. Its in fine original patina throughout and it has its original Bryant sockets with satellite pulls as well.
Its been recently rewired with proper period style cloth cord. The is no damage to report at all on the base. The shade is as cool as it gets.
Please notice the glass going from the bottom to the top how it gets darker/greener as it reaches the top of the shade. This is an attribute of a great maker that they took the time and cared enough to do that in the making process. The leading tight and right throughout and no missing glass or multiple cracks to discuss. Maybe 1-2 tight age cracks at best and nothing that detracts or compromises the shade in any way, shape, or form. The photos not doing any justice as it lights up way better than in the photos. Recently I have been putting different lighting on with reserves and no reserves. We may be able to hand deliver this item ourselves. What that means is this. If you live in the following radius or just outside it, we should communicate about not using a major carrier, so it has a better chance of survival and minimizing damage or a damage claim as well. Horseheads ny to Detroit mi , Detroit mi to Chicago il , Chicago il to Indianapolis In to Cincinnati oh , Cincinnati oh to Pittsburgh pa , Pittsburgh to Washington dc , Washington dc to manhattan ny , manhattan ny to boston ma, boston ma to Albany ny, Albany ny to buffalo ny.Please Check out my other items! Some great Bradley Hubbard, Tiffany, Handel, etc. Chances are if there aren't any, it's a newer item and you shouldn't want it anyways. In other words, a minor blemish on some metalwork belonging to a large shade or a 1/16 by 1/16 of a paint flake missing, please try and be reasonable. I always describe the important aspects towards condition reports and sometimes my eye misses what I deem immaterial issues such as the aforementioned sentence.
There are a few things in life we cant do without. Food, water, fire, oxygen, the sun, shelter etc.So when it comes to shelter and necessary light for it, thats where I come in. I believe in living simply and within my means but surrounded by items of great quality. Of and the wasteful utilities that go along with that. So why is it people go out and spend.
Not to mention you got the same usage for that entire time period? This makes infinitely more financial sense than the other choice, plus you have a conversation piece in the room and something to be proud of. Also you have more cultural feeling invested in something 100 years old knowing that it can never be duplicated by modern making techniques and knowing there a few, if any, like it left for this world and now its yours. You display it and care for it.
So again thats where I come in. Great period lighting when electricity was still in its infancy. When makers like Bradley and Hubbard, Handel, Tiffany studios, Pairpoint, and others cared about quality, appearance, and function. When makers were trying to outdo one another with this new business boom of electric lighting. When we went from whale and kerosene oil lamps and gas, to electric. This is when the best lamps in the world were manufactured and the ones I want to light my home with when its dark. I cant control the sun or the amount of light it provides or when it comes up or goes down, and whether its cloudy or not, but I can control the light in my home when its dark. And like I said earlier, I want nice rugs, paintings, pottery, furniture, etc.
And I want to see those items lit by great lighting. Its what makes a home more outstanding and livable because without it you see absolutely nothing. A quality lamp makes or breaks a room. You can have the best rugs, furniture, paintings, and accessories in the world, but without great lamps or lighting nobody will ever see it.
