Welcome To The Antique Cabinet. For your consideration is a QUEZAL Hooked Feather Art Glass Lamp Shade, circa 1902-24. Following his arrival to the US, he worked for Louis Comfort Tiffany as a chemist at the newly formed Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company in Corona, Queens. After almost 10 years, Bach left Tiffany to establish his own company (which actually infuriated Louis Tiffany).
While in business, Quezals Art Nouveau styled glass was very comparable in quality and beauty to all similar well-known glass makers of the period with examples being found in most if not all prominent museums. This is a rare shade in relation to its size and form. It is beautifully decorated with a cream colored hooked-feather design on a bright custard yellow ground; has a wonderful glow. It is properly signed on the inside fitter rim.
Tall by 8 at widest with a 6. The shade is in excellent condition, free of any chips, cracks or repairs and very minimal wear. There are a couple factory flea nicks to the polished top button.
A very nice & unusual QUEZAL shade that would great on an array of fixtures especially on a pretty Tiffany base...
