It is attributed to the 1933/34 Worlds Fair in Chicago which articulated a glorious vision of humanity's future in space. The theme of the fair was technological innovation and to celebrate the city's centennial. The fair was titled "A Century of Progress" and it was a new vision for a fair where they marketed it as an'International Exposition'. Being a product of the exposition, the lamp is space and futurist themed with its central feature in the shape of a stylized Saturn, suspended in the middle where attention is brought to it's gleaming Saturn disk'speed ring'. It has a bold, circular multi-stepped base in a gleaming chrome finish with black accents.
It's stabilised with a weighted base designed to house the cabling and for it to neatly go through its outlet hole. Further enhancing the lamps striking visual impact is its heavy green dual cased glass shade with a striking Art Deco design. This lamp as can be seen lights up and displays beautifully. The lamp is in absolutely EXCELLENT condition as seen. The main chrome components are all extremly bright (rechromed). There are no cracks or dings to any of the metal parts at all, it is in excellent condition as can be seen. The glass shade is also in excellent condition as seen bar some small nicks on the opening which is common for shades of this era and are hidden inside the shade holder.
