Art Deco Machine Age Chrome Black Saturn Lamp, Uranium Glass Green Star Shade

From the same important private collection of ultra rare Art Deco Saturn-themed lighting that I occasionally have the privilege to offer comes this outstanding 1930's American Machine Age lamp in a stunning combination of gleaming chrome and matte-black-finished elements. An exceptionally impressive statement piece for the discerning collector, the lamp features a stepped chrome and black foot and cylindrical base surmounted by a ringed chrome "pedestal"-spacer supporting a black feature in the shape of the planet Saturn with chrome "rings" and rising to a triple-stepped chrome gallery.

To the underside, three semi-spherical bun feet incorporated in the black underplate. Further enhancing the dramatic beauty of the lamp is its spectacular rare multi-point star-shaped shade in an extremely vibrant "uranium glass" green colour n. Non-reactive and made of heavy satin glass, with each of the points delineated in clear glass to better accentuate and highlight the geometricity of its shape. The lamp has recently been professionally rewired with luxury quality twisted braided black cord complete with an Art Deco era Australian black bakelite plug, refitted with a high quality chrome bulb-holder (bayonet type) and last but not least, features an original 1930s elliptical-shaped inline switch in black bakelite.

Dimensions Height: 51 cm Base diameter: 12.9 cm Shade, max. The lamp is in absolutely superb condition, the chrome is gleaming bright and mirror-like, and the matte-black-finished components have virtually no traces of age or wear, only some light shelf wear to the bun feet.

The shade is in perfect condition with only the usual minute flakes/fleabites to the collar, completely invisible when in place, and a few tiny air bubbles within the glass, typical of glass from its era.
