Art Deco Machine Age Chrome Black Bakelite Lamp, Glass Saturn Planet Shade

From the same private collection of Saturn-themed Art Deco lamps that I occasionally have the privilege to offer comes this stunning late 1930's Machine Age table/desk lamp in gleaming chrome and black bakelite. A superb rare statement piece for the discerning collector, the lamp stands at 39.5cm.

And features a conical multi-stepped chrome and bakelite base rising to a central chrome orb feature surmounted by a stepped chrome gallery. The spherical shade is in glossy cased white glass and is encircled by a fixed wide chrome band secured at the back via a small tab and screw. The lamp has recently been professionally rewired with a high quality silk-covered black twisted cord and an Art Deco era black bakelite Australian plug, and for safety reasons the old brass bulb holder has been replaced with a high quality chromed bayonet base bulb holder. An appropriate bayonet-base light bulb will be included with the lamp, and also, for U. And Canadian buyers, the Australian plug will be replaced with a high quality reproduction Art Deco 2-pin American plug in black bakelite (see last image) suitable for immediate use of the lamp in their country, without the need for an adapter.

Last but not least, the lamp has another superb feature: a 1930's ovoid-shaped inline switch in black bakelite with on/off buttons in white bakelite. Height: 39.5cm / 15.5. Base diameter: 12.7cm / 5. Shade diameter: 15cm / 6 Inline switch: L.

The lamp is in absolutely superb condition, all the chrome components are gleaming bright and mirror-like, and all the bakelite elements are glossy and free from chips or cracks. All dark/light/coloured marks/patches are merely reflections. The shade is in perfect condition as is the chromed band encircling it.
