Art Deco International Eucharistic Congress 1934 Art Glass Night Lamp Souvenir

Fine Arts, Antiques and Collectibles. ART DECO INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS 1934. ART GLASS NIGHT LAMP SOUVENIR. This is a extremely rare art glass night lamp made as a souvenir of the International Eucharistic Congress held in Buenos Aires in 1934. Nickel or chromed plated brass lamp base with an etched and carved thick transparent glass plaque with polished outline, depicting a "Sacred Heart of Jesus" it reads "Recuerdo del Congreso Eucaristico Internacional 10-14-Octubre-1934 Buenos Aires" (Memory of the International Eucharistic Congress 10-14-October-1934 Buenos Aires).

The XXXII International Eucharistic Congress of 1934 was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina between October 9 and 14, 1934 with the presence of Eugenio Pacelli, future Pope Pius XII. It was the first to be held in Latin America and the third in America after those held in Montreal and Chicago. Due to the magnitude of the crowds that attended the public events, never seen before, it was the most important mass event in the country up to that date and, for some historians, the largest mobilization that has occurred in Argentina to date. This lamp is marvellous for a console or occasional table.

And has a beatiful effect when lit. Wide: 5 (12,5 cm). Thickness: 0,6 (1,5 cm). The base showing signs of wear and minor scratches. The lower border of the glass plaque have minor fea bites, however you will notice that it's absolutely not visible when it is in the base.
