Numerous inquiries on this lamp base shell prompted me to spend some quality time with it these past few days. Scrutiny stirred the imagination and before I knew it, I had rebuilt the lamp this evening (11-18-20) with a new art glass shade I made in my studio and some very fine new features to enhance the lighting experience. A young woman in a tight dress is bending backwards with both hands behind her head, seemingly lost in a blissful moment we may only imagine. She appears to be standing in a field of flowers with a tree behind and a pooch nearby, sitting and seemingly lost in his own.

Before my rebuild, the stump of a tree served as a foundation for the lamp stem which curved and terminated in an old socket with threadings for a shade holder (see last 2 pictures). The lamp was not operative and the lamp stem meandered.

I removed the old socket, the curved lamp stem and aged wiring from the lamp body. I examined the old-style binary switch residing on the organic base and determined it to be functional. The socket was unresponsive so I replaced it with a new counterpart and new wiring.

Atop the tree stump, I added a short column, a pair of teeth-and-key swivels, re-introduced the old curved stem and a shade holder to house the new socket. I reattached the original binary switch, organized the wires underneath the base, added an insulator cover and finished the bottom with a felt pad. This lamp is fully functional, made of heavy spelter and sits with a wide stable base. The multiple swivels I have added expands the possibilities of lighting and should engage the inquisitive enthusiast.

I have removed most of the dust and grime built up over the years in storage and. This will make a fine accent piece, a beautiful task lamp or an exceptional gift for all settings and ocassions.
