Vitrika Pair of'Atlantic' Glass & Brass Wall Lamps 1970s Danish Labelled
A vintage pair of'Atlantic' wall lamps of glass and brass, produced by Danish lighting firm, Vitrika, in the 1970s. The glass shades are hand-cast in heavy and very thick clear glass, with smooth fronts and textured interiors. Additionally, they have a thin iridescent gold-coloured layer to the interior, wrought by'fuming' the glass - exposing it to the fumes of super-heated metals, which gives lends a richness to the light coming from the lamps. They simply slide on to the backplates via moulded grooves. The lamps are designed to be hung on the wall by a single screw, hook or nail, with the cable trailing to a domestic socket (rather than being hard-wired).
They take E14 Edison-screw bulbs. Original label to the back of the lamps, which misspell'Atlantic'. Lightest tarnish to metal, but almost entirely hidden by glass shade. Nicholas Wilson and Ashley Coleman, the constituent parts of Wilson & Coleman, are dedicated - addicted - to finding wonderful vintage and contemporary interior design objects and works of decorative art from around the world.
