A Frederic Carder for Steuben Torchiere. Clear amber glass panel, shape number 8418, circa 1926. Panel depicts a nude female figure gathering grapes. Panel is not signed, but is illustrated in Dimitroff's book "Ferderick Carder and Steuben Glass". Another example is seen in Gardner's book "The Glass of Frederick Carder". Patinated metal (likely wrought iron) lamp torchiere base is raised on scrolled feet leading into a three-iron bar support which supports the lighting element. A decorative element in the form of a grape bunch with scrolls on either side is just beneath the amber panel Torchiere base: 66.5" x 16" Glass panel: 9" x 9".

These were the best lamps of this style made at this time, with the highest quality materials. Such lamps are rarely seen.

Glass panel sustains three chips to the bottom edge, which do not show when the shade is in place (the glass is brittle). There is also a small chip on the top back side, and another on the top of the upper "tab", in the central uppermost portion. No chips show when the lamp shade is in place and viewed directly. The base shows wear to the original golden patina on the heavy wrought iron base (possibly by Edgar Brandt). At the extreme top, the two pieces of wrought iron that stick out are uneven (not the same height), but it does not appear to be bent. The cord has been updated, and the lamp is in excellent working condition. This quote is for the Continental U. These charges are the buyers responsibility.
